Write Your Vision: 300 Things I Want from God

While I thought I would end up writing about money today, I kept being pulled back to something older but relevant for today - Steve Harvey’s “Write Your Vision” (Youtube Video Linked). I am challenging myself to do it in this new season of life, and I would love for you to do it with me.

Seriously, when was the last time you sat down and actually wrote out the things you pray for/want from God? If it has been a while, I want to challenge you to write down 300 things you want on a piece of paper and be as detailed as possible. If you revisit your list in a year, you will be surprised at how many things start to show up once you write them down and read them every day.

In his video, he suggests writing 300 things you want from God and being as detailed as possible. He says to read your list every day; I keep mine in front of my Bible. I am starting mine this weekend and I am not sure how long it will take me to reach 300, but I am going to do it. I already know the power in writing things down. I have been doing it in different ways for years.

Write down your dreams and goals, review them daily, prepare for them, and work toward them. If you do, your dreams can start to feel less like wishes and more like destinations.

Here is the video if you want to see it for yourself, but I would love for you to join me and see what happens in the next year. This feels like a perfect time to start, especially as we move into spring. If we only lived a little more by the seasons instead of a man‑made calendar, how might our lives look a little bit different?

Here are a few things to think about as you write your vision and the things you want from God:

  • Career goals

  • Education goals

  • Financial goals

  • Fitness goals

  • Spiritual goals

  • Personal goals

  • Materialistic items

  • Vacations

  • Opportunities and experiences

  • Giving and charitable gifts

  • Business ideas

  • Family traditions

  • Dreams and bucket‑list items

Write the vision and make it plain.
— Habakkuk 2:2

I know that is not the meaning of this verse, but it has become an anchor for me. It reminds me that God called His prophets to write down the visions and run with them. The desires on our hearts are from God, and maybe that is what we are being invited to do, too.
